WhatsApp AI Agent for Business in the UAE: What It Does and What It Costs
A WhatsApp AI agent is software that answers your customers' WhatsApp messages from your own information, does the follow-up work in your tools, and passes sensitive cases to a person. You can buy a ready platform for a monthly fee, or have an agent built around your process. The right choice depends on how standard your process is.
Below: how it works, what it should not do alone, what each route costs, and how to choose. I build agents myself at Moshid Agents, so read the comparison with that in mind.
How a WhatsApp AI agent works
It runs on the WhatsApp Business Platform (the Cloud API), connected either directly with Meta or through a provider. It is not the WhatsApp Business app on a phone. The flow is the same in every case:
- It reads the incoming message. Text, and where set up, voice notes and images.
- It answers from your information. Your prices, policies, opening hours and past replies, not guesses from the internet.
- It acts in your tools. Looks up an order, checks a booking, updates the CRM, drafts a quote.
- It hands over. Anything sensitive, unclear or unhappy goes to a person with the context attached.
How Meta bills the messages
Since 1 July 2025 Meta charges per delivered message instead of per conversation. Each message is priced by its category (marketing, utility, authentication, service and others) and by the recipient's country calling code, and Meta does not charge for messages customers send to you. The UAE is its own market (+971) and AED is a billing currency. Since 1 October 2026 each business phone number gets 1,000 free service messages a month, and Meta charges from the 1,001st. Check the current rates on Meta's pricing page before you budget. I have not quoted a UAE rate here for that reason.
What a WhatsApp AI agent should and should not do alone
It can be wrong. Any AI system can state a wrong price, misread a message or answer confidently from outdated information. That is a design problem, not a reason to avoid agents. Build around it:
Fine to do alone
- Answer repeating questions from your approved information
- Collect the details a person needs to act
- Confirm and remind bookings by your rules
- Check an order or booking status
- Draft a reply for a person to approve
Needs a person
- Price exceptions, discounts and refunds
- Complaints and upset customers
- Medical, legal or financial advice
- Anything the agent is unsure about
- Commitments you have not approved in writing
A good agent has guardrails, an approval step where a decision is needed, a clear escalation path and a test on your real messages before it goes live. This is the approach behind a custom AI agent built for your process.
What it costs in the UAE: three routes
Route 1: a ready WhatsApp AI platform
These are the figures each provider publishes on its own page, collected on 29 October 2026 (SleekFlow's come from a cost example in its UAE blog post). They differ in what they include, so do not read the table as a ranking.
| Provider | Plans | Published price | What the page says |
|---|---|---|---|
| SleekFlow | Pro AI example (1 number, ~2,000 conversations a month); Premium AI example (3 numbers, ~10,000 a month) | AED 547 a month; AED 1,098 a month (platform fee in SleekFlow's own cost examples) | WhatsApp number hosting AED 55 a month per number, setup from AED 1,833, message fees extra |
| respond.io | Starter; Growth; Advanced | USD 79; 159; 279 a month billed yearly (USD 99; 199; 349 billed monthly) | AI agents from the Growth plan. WhatsApp fees are not included in any subscription |
| Twilio | Developer platform (you build the logic) | USD 0.005 per message, inbound or outbound | Charged on top of Meta's own fees. No agent included |
SleekFlow's UAE rate card, as it states it, adds about AED 0.18 per marketing template message, AED 0.06 per utility and AED 0.07 per authentication on top of the plan. All figures were read on the pages linked, and USD prices are in USD, not converted.
Route 2: an agency builds a custom WhatsApp agent
Published UAE prices for custom agents, as collected on the cost page, run from about AED 5,000 for a simple automation to AED 150,000 and above for complex or regulated builds, and the same project can be quoted very differently by two companies. I have collected the named providers and what moves the price on the AI agent cost in the UAE page rather than repeat it here.
Route 3: the Moshid Sprint
Moshid Agents is deliberately narrow: one agent for one repeating process, which can be your WhatsApp enquiries, built in 7 days by me. The fixed price is AED 4,999 in total: AED 2,500 first and AED 2,499 after you have watched the agent work. 7 days of support follow handover. If the process is not a fit, the first payment comes back in full. Meta's message fees are separate and sit on your own account.
It is not a like-for-like comparison with a platform subscription or a team-built system: the scope is smaller, and the agent is built around your process instead of you adapting to a platform.
Ready tool or custom agent?
A ready platform fits when
- Your questions are standard: hours, prices, location, simple booking
- You mainly need a shared inbox, broadcasts and a basic bot
- You want to start this week and can adapt to the platform
- You do not need the agent to act inside your own systems
A custom agent fits when
- The work behind the message is the real cost: quotes, checks, CRM updates
- Your process has rules a generic bot will not follow
- You want the accounts and files in your name, with no forced monthly fee
- The same process repeats every week and eats your team's time
If you are unsure, send me the process on WhatsApp. If a ready platform or a plain automation solves it better, I tell you that in writing before you pay.
Questions people ask
How much does a WhatsApp AI agent cost in the UAE?
It depends on the route. Ready platforms start from SleekFlow's published example cost of AED 547 a month or USD 79 a month billed yearly (respond.io), plus Meta's message fees and sometimes setup and number-hosting fees. A custom agent built around your process is a one-time project: the Moshid Sprint is a fixed AED 4,999 in total for one process, and the wider UAE market ranges are on the AI agent cost page.
Can a WhatsApp AI agent reply in Arabic and English?
Usually yes, but test it before you trust it. Current language models handle both, including Gulf Arabic, yet quality varies with your topic, your spelling habits and voice notes. Run it on 30 to 50 real messages from your own inbox, in both languages and with mixed Arabic and English, and look at the wrong answers before it talks to customers.
Do I need the WhatsApp Business API?
Yes, for an agent that answers automatically at any volume. The WhatsApp Business app is built for a person on a phone. An agent connects through the WhatsApp Business Platform (the Cloud API), either directly with Meta or through a provider, and the number you connect has to be registered for it.
Will it replace my customer service staff?
No, not if it is built well. It takes the repeating questions and the first draft of the reply, and hands anything sensitive, unclear or emotional to a person. Your team spends its time on the cases that need judgement, and you approve what matters.
How long does it take to set up?
A ready platform can be live in days if your answers are simple and your information is already written down. A custom agent takes longer because it is built and tested on your real cases: the Moshid Sprint is built in 7 days once you have accepted the written Scope and given access, with 7 days of support after handover.
Who pays Meta's WhatsApp message fees?
You do, directly or through your provider. Since 1 July 2025 Meta charges per delivered message, priced by category and by the recipient's country, and not for messages customers send to you. Since 1 October 2026 each business number gets 1,000 free service messages a month, then each service message is charged, so read the current rate card before you budget.
Not sure your WhatsApp process suits an agent?
Describe it on WhatsApp. I reply in writing within one working day: it fits or it does not, and why. Nothing is paid before that.
Not a fit? Your first payment of AED 2,500 comes back in full.
Or read how the Sprint works first on the Moshid Agents page.
